Your WHY verbalizes
the driving force that moves you to success as you
work your Virtual Franchise. It explains WHY you do
WHAT you do. It inspires your Vision, what you
and your life will look like as a direct result of living the life that was designed for you, and achieving your
Goals.
Every WHY leads to a HOW and a WHAT (watch Simon Sinek's video below).
Everyone knows WHAT they do (share Juice Plus+). Some know HOW they do it (sharing my story and
using CDs, DVDs, on-line videos and events - key components of our business model, the Virtual Franchise). But very few
truly know
WHY they do what they do.
Only those who know their WHY, and can communicate it, are able to lead and inspire others. Your
WHY comes from the
past. It begins as the sum total of your upbringing and experiences, which give birth to your core values and
beliefs; it is WHO you are, and it is what INSPIRES you. Hence it is the reason you do WHAT you do, and it is
the core of living an authentic life, where your WHY, your HOW and your WHAT are all in balance and
perfectly aligned.
The WHY is also the core of every successful company and leader in
history.
NSA's WHY, (their mission statement) unchanged for over 40 years, is "To
build a stable and lasting company that will help as many people as possible to realize their dreams.“ They've done that very successfully and are a great example of being true to
your WHY.
Before we reached the coveted National Marketing Director position in our business, we adopted
the second part of NSA's mission statement as our WHY:
"To help as many people as possible to
realize their dreams.“ This applies to our customers, our team
members and others in the greater Juice Plus+ family. It is why we do what we do. Serendipitously, as Zig
Ziglar says, "You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help
enough other people get what they want.”
NSA/Juice Plus+'s (and our) HOW is "Inspiring Healthy Living Around the World"; this is the way we market Juice Plus+. This is also a
perfect 'starter' WHY for many people joining our business, until their own personal, more powerful
WHY becomes
clear. When their true WHY is clear, this then becomes their HOW.
NSA/Juice Plus+'s (and our) WHAT
is "Embrace; Share; Inspire; using Juice Plus+ through the Virtual Franchise". It's WHAT we do.
It's vital that our WHY, HOW and the WHAT all lead and connect to our customers' WHY: "To take control of my family's
health"; to their HOW: "By using the tools and truth I can gather"; and to their WHAT: "My family
and I taking Juice Plus+ every day, and making other healthy choices". Juice Plus+ is the catalyst and primary tool in our customers' hands, enabling them to take control of their health.
So, our WHY, HOW
and WHAT combine into "We help as
many people as possible to realize their dreams by inspiring healthy living around our world, and
by helping others to make Juice Plus+ the core catalyst for taking control of their health." Do
you think other people can understand, identify with and be inspired by that?!

Discovering Your Why
Next, watch this
video - it explains everything - then read the book.
Seriously!
Simon Sinek's WHY is "To inspire others to do what inspires them".
Answering these questions will help you discover and develop your
understanding of your WHY.
1. What does
complete fulfillment look like; the passionate you?
2. How would more time to do what you love/do well, change your life?
3. What personal strengths and abilities will you use in this
business?
4. In what areas would you like more personal growth?
5. How would more money change your life?
6. What income, what WHY would justify your investment of time to build
a successful business over the next 3 to 5 years?
7. What significant Dream of yours could be achieved with the kind of
income and freedom this business affords?
8. How much time can you invest each week to begin to achieve financial freedom? Break this down
into daily and weekly amounts of time you can commit to?
Go ahead, dream, assess, design ... discover your WHY.
"Keep your Eyes on the Prize"
Once your WHY is clear, you are able to communicate it, and you have
Goals to support it, what now? How do you stay motivated and
authentic?
“I
press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in
Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:14 (ESV)
Knowing
Dave Ramsey I have no
doubt that the words of Paul above, from the New Testament, were
somewhere in his mind when he said "To stay motivated to do anything
that involves changing a behavior, I have to keep my eyes on the prize".
Dave said this on his TV show recently, when a caller (a young
Englishman, interestingly) asked: "How do you stay motivated...?"
Dave went on to explain that any goal worth achieving, worth stretching
yourself to reach, worth sacrificing for, will require significant
change. Change in your behavior, in your attitude, even in your
character. To have what you have never had, you have to be
willing to do what you have never done. This is true of success
in business, and it’s no less true in our JP+ Virtual Franchise.
"For things to change, we have to change", said the late Jim Rohn,
says Jeff Roberti (NSA's '$70 million man').
Whether your why is to lose weight, get fit (Dave runs every day),
get out of debt (Dave's specialty), or build wealth for any reason but
especially so you can give more generously (Dave's 'Baby Step 7'),
change is mandatory, motivation is the key, and the only way to stay motivated and to make the
change permanent, is to "keep your eyes on the Prize", and to stay true to your WHY and to who you are.
When we started our NSA business in 1990, my Prize from day 1 was
National Marketing Director, because it represented freedom from the
corporate world, a new life in America, and 'status'. (Much of my sense
of significance had been tied to my job as an IBM Manager). I did keep
my eyes on the Prize and I “won” … so what have I learned
about this that might help you?
