HOW TO KEEP THE VISION BEFORE YOU
by Carol Watson, RN, ND

One of the main challenges in starting a new business is preparing for the initial startup when everything seems to be going out and little is coming in, but the rejections seem to be in great supply.  I am here to reassure you that "what you sow, you will reap."  Think of each tape, each brochure, each mailing, each product sample and every expense to get to events as a very small investment into your future financial success!  If we keep this mentality, then expenses like the Virtual Franchise website (for only $5/month starter package, and VoiceCom for only $9.95/month starter package)...etc., all this will move into focus as we shift our eyes toward the bigger goal......helping others and financial security for ourselves and our downline!

Ask yourself this question: "Just how determined am I to break through this startup barrier and achieve the Success I want?  Will I allow lack of finances up front and the fear of rejection to stop me from moving forward?"

Before you answer that question, may I share with you some obstacles that other successful business people encountered?

--Walt Disney heard "no" over three hundred times in his quest to build Disneyland.

--Kentucky Fried Chicken founder, Colonel Harlan Sanders heard "no" over a thousand times before he finally heard "yes."

--Even the most successful people in network marketing average hearing "no thanks" about 80 percent of the time!

This business that you have embarked upon will undoubtedly require perseverance, passion and yes, some consistent daily activity before Success comes your way.  It is the one who keeps going, the one who never gives up, the one who sticks with it against all odds that finds Success.  Here are some keys that may help you along your way:
1.) Maintain the mentality that there are always ways to improve.....your prospecting, your follow-up, your presentation....etc. Make the necessary changes.
2.) Be teachable and don't try to reinvent the wheel.  Use the "tried and proven" system.
3.) Be flexible/adaptable....learn from your mistakes and then move ahead.
4.) Use the "rejections" you encounter to increase your determination.  Each "no" is really one step closer to a "yes." Focus on the experience.....you are gaining new skills, building confidence, planting seeds.......every time you open your mouth and talk to someone.
5.) Set a goal of where you want to be next month, in six months, or in a year.  Writing it down keeps your vision before you and sets the wheels in motion.
6.) Determine exactly what you need to do to accomplish your goals.  Be specific!
7.) Don't waste your time (or money) trying to convince or sell people.  Spend your time productively with the people who can already appreciate the need for improving their health through whole food nutrition....and don't forget to offer the business opportunity at some point in your follow-up (if you didn't already on the initial exposure).
8.) Surround yourself with positive people, high energy people and motivated people.  Shirk off the shackles of old relationships and patterns that will try to hold you back.  You CAN do this!
9.) Remember this is not about YOU.....it is about your passion to get this message of health to others.  All of us want to make a difference in this world, well, here is your opportunity.  The rewards cannot be measured. You are a blessing whether you do a little, or do a lot......take baby steps if this is where you are, but be persistent and consistent.

"If I find 10,000 ways something won't work, I haven't failed. I am not discouraged because every wrong attempt discarded is just one more step forward."  Thomas Edison (regarding failed experiments while developing the light bulb).

I am realizing more and more both in my business and in my spiritual walk that many of life's "failures" are experienced by people who did not realize how close they were to success/victory when they gave up.

"And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we will reap, IF we don't faint."  Galatians 6:9

May God bless each and every one of you in your ministry of providing health information and for imparting encouragement and passion to this desperate world around us.  They need to hear the truth about health through whole foods and how they can be successful themselves in this business......set your vision and goals before you and you WILL succeed, for "what we sow, we WILL reap."
