Daily Method of Operation (DMO)
"A good DMO may well be the most useful and simple tool that anyone can use to improve time
management. I am confident that this strategy
will make a profound difference in your life." Gordon Hester
The Virtual Franchise Owner's Manual (Chapter 6)
gives us some excellent tips on what to include in our DMO, especially if we are determined and committed to
success with our business. The chart reinforces that the "5 Simple Steps" from the
Starter Guide represent the best DMO for everyone, from Dealer to NMD.

Your DMO needs to focus you on high-payoff activities.
Use the 20-10-5-1 formula with Intention and Invitation.
Complete and stay focused on this
2x2x2x2 Planning Sheet; it
will help make sure you are doing those things that really pay you
well,
because 90%+ of your time needs to be spent communicating with people -
preferably in person or by phone.
Master and use Connection Calls - these will become
increasingly important in your DMO.
"The Fortune is in the Follow-up" - this is so true, but
the best follow-up needs the best planning.
To help you make those calls remember: “People are much happier to hear from me than I
give myself credit for.” (This wise comment made by Maria Garcia, from Phoenix, applies to all of us!)
You’ve
heard it said, “plan your work and work your plan” and “people don’t plan
to fail; they just fail to plan.” Good, focused planning will help your
business consistently grow and bring balance to your life.
Getting Things Done by David Allen is an excellent
book for those wanting to make the most of their time, and wanting to
simplify their lives, restoring balance in the process - who wouldn't want that?! We've used his simple
system to great effect. David's GTD rests on the principle that we need to move tasks out of our minds
by recording them externally. That way, the mind is freed from the job of remembering everything that needs to be
done, and can concentrate on actually performing those tasks. The resulting freedom, productivity and efficiency
lead to one thing: Success.
If you own an iphone and/or an ipad, you may want to use this powerful LifeNotes
ToDo app to manage your life:
Go to work on your plan and as you complete each week,
take time to evaluate your activity and your progress.
Track your results. Adjust your plan as needed.
