Coaching I
WHEN LIFE COMES AT YOU FAST
by David Beavers, NMD
A popular television commercial reminds us that "life
comes at you fast". I am a 60-year old baby boomer. Occasionally I'm
tempted to wish for the days when the pace of life seemed
slower--before the internet, blackberries and cable news 24 hours a
day.
We've all read the emails describing the 1950's when kids
played outside all day, riding their bikes until dark, while Dad
cranked out homemade ice cream on the back porch.
But, we can't go back. In fact, technology will keep
pushing us to get more done, talk to more people, attend more meetings,
buy more stuff and ramp up our efficiency. It's in that process, we can
lose our perspective and our sense of purpose.
ENTER COACHING.
In today's hectic world, coaching is a phenomenal gift.
Coaching interrupts our frantic pace and encourages us to
pause and think about our priorities.
Coaching puts the brakes on a harried person's life and
says, "Slow down. Let someone watch the kids. I'm here to help you. I
want to hear your dreams. I want to know what makes you tick. You don't
have to figure it out by yourself."
Coaching isn't one more activity to put on your pile of
things to do. Coaching sorts the pile and makes it smaller.
Coaching creates the inner space where we can review our
goals and begin again to live our lives with intentionality, with
purpose and--this may be the best part--with the support and wisdom of
a good friend.
Most of us spend our days reacting to the needs, the
demands and the personal crises of other people. Coaching pulls us back
to what's important to us.
Coaching gives us permission to express one more time,
"This is what I want for my life. This is what I want for my family.
This is what I want to do."
"Life comes at you fast."
Carve out time this month for some coaching. Slow down a
bit. Get your life and your Juice Plus+ business back on track.
